The ‘State’ Of Todd Rundgren

05:01 PM Monday 2/11/13 |   |

Rock’s renaissance man embarks on a continent-hopping journey this spring, playing the U.S. and Europe in support of his new album, “State.”  Beginning in Woodstock, N.Y., stops include New York City, Philadelphia, and Chicago on this side of the pond, London, Stockholm and Amsterdam on the other.

Described as “a contemporary fusion of rock and electronica,” Todd Rundgren’s State drops April 8 in the United Kingdom, Europe and Japan and April 9 in the U.S. and Canada on Esoteric Antenna.

Rundgren exploring electronica seems pretty apropos for the man who’s known for not only exploring the musical landscape but also for pushing back if not obliterating boundaries.  Producer for albums by Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Badfinger, Rundgren also helmed one of the biggest selling albums of all time when he produced Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell album.

Taking State on the road, Rundgren begins the adventure in the U.S., crossing the Atlantic in late May, returning in June for his “Toddstock” week at the Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, La.
