Odds & Ends: Tribute To Prince, Cradle Of Filth and Glenn Beck

04:01 PM Friday 2/15/13 |   |

The Cardigans’ Nina Perrson is among the artists added to the tribute to Prince in NYC; Cradle of Filth cancels upcoming tour of North America and political talker Glenn Beck announces plans to headline Salt Lake City’s Usana Amphitheatre.

The list of artists playing promoter Michel Dorf’s star-spangled tribute to the artist formerly referred to as a symbol keeps on growing.  Scheduled for March 7 at Carnegie Hall in New York City, “The Music Of Prince” recently added Amos Lee, Citizen Cope & Alice Smith and Nina Persson of The Cardigans to a lineup that already includes Elvis Costello, Bettye LaVette, Talib Kweli, Sandra Bernhard, Booker T. Jones, The Waterboys, D’Angelo, Blind Boys Of Alabama, DeVotchka, Bilal, Bhi Bhiman, Princess and fDelux.  The house band for the evening is The Roots.

Tickets, including monstrously plush VIP selections, are still available.  All proceeds will benefit The American Symphony Orchestra’s Music Notes, Church Street School Of Music, Young Audiences New York FIKS (Fixing Instruments For Kids In Schools), Little Kids Rock and the Center for Arts Education.  Click here for more info.

You can forget about seeing Cradle Of Filth in the U.S. and Canada during the next couple of months.  Announcing the cancellation of its March-April tour that was to begin Feb. 22 in New York City, the British band blamed the bad news on “U.S. immigration issues” beyond their control.

The band also apologized to their fans, saying they “made every effort possible” to continue with their touring plans.

Former Fox News Channel commentator Glenn Beck has booked Salt Lake City’s Usana Amphitheatre for one night only, July 6.  Titled “Man In The Moon,” the evening is described on his website as “the exciting new stage spectacle by America’s premier storyteller,” namely GB himself.

Other descriptions abound, including “It’s Glenn Beck’s imagination come to life,”  “Will excite and engage all your senses” and “at times it will seem to defy logic.”

But mere words on the screen aren’t enough to adequately illustrate an evening with Mr. Beck.  So we grabbed this video featuring the man himself telling you what you need to know:
