Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil hospitalized; Justin Bieber cancels Portugal gig; Rihanna nixes Boston, Alabama Shakes pushes Sunday to Monday and there are no smiles in the British Isles today as Kristin Chenoweth scratches her U.K. tour.
Kidney stones are being blamed for Mötley Crüe’s abbreviated set in Australia. Apparently frontman Vince Neil was the one struck with a case of renal calculus, forcing the band to cut short its Sunday night concert in Sydney, according to Rolling Stone. Mötley Crüe is touring Down Under with KISS.

The band had played nine songs when Nikki Sixx told fans that Neil had been suffering from pain throughout the gig.
Crüe guitarist Mick Mars posted a message on the band’s Facebook page apologizing for the interruption.
“Hey guys, I just woke here in Sydney. As many have heard we had to cut our set short by 4 songs last night due to Vince being in severe pain on stage. He was doubled over on his dressing room floor 5 minutes till show time and was told by the promoter to not even play but Vince said he couldn’t do that to the fans. I’ve seen Vinnie go onstage with broken bones, his voice completely blown out and torn ligaments but he never ever cancels…Just like an athlete you sometimes have to play through the pain but last night it became too excruciating.
“I was texting with Vince most of the night last night as he was just waiting for the doctor to come back with the test results. This morning we found out he had to be admitted into surgery to remove kidney stones. He just got out 5 minutes ago and the doctors said everything went well in the operating room. I am going to the hospital to see him before I head to Brisbane. Will update you more later…Nikki”

50 percent of Justin Bieber fans holding tickets for his two nights in Lisbon, Portugal, are going to miss out. While The Bieb is still set to play tonight’s gig at Pavilhao Atlantico, Tuesday night’s show is now off the schedule.
A message posted on the venue’s website cited “unforeseen reasons” for the March 12 cancellation and said ticket holders should seek refunds at points of purchase.
Quoting an anonymous source described as “close to the singer,” Reuters says the cancellation has nothing to do with Bieber’s past mishap in London when he collapsed on stage, resulting in a 20-minute delay while he was given oxygen backstage.
Citing local media reports, Reuters points out that ticket sales for the second Lisbon show, which was added last month, “were lower than organizers had hoped.”
Bieber was in the news for all the wrong reasons last week. Along with his onstage fainting spell, Bieber was two hours late for his March 4 gig at the O2 London. Later that week he was the star of a viral video depicting him shouting at the London paparazzi. All this came just days after he tweeted “worst birthday” after reaching the big 19 March 1.
Laryngitis was the culprit that forced Rihanna to postpone her Sunday evening concert at Boston’s TD Garden. A message posted to the venue’s website states fans should hold on to their tickets and that a new date will be announced shortly.

That nasty snowstorm crossing the heartland has resulted in Alabama Shakes rescheduling their Sunday night show Uptown Theater gig in Kansas City, Mo., to tonight, according to The Kansas City Star. The band played Denver’s Ogden Theatre Saturday night.

“Unforeseen circumstances” apparently are to blame for Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth canceling her tour of the United Kingdom that was to begin this week. Citing an announcement from promoter Speckulation Entertainment, TheaterMania.com reports fans should seek refunds at points of purchase.
