The annual music cruise has yet to set a lineup for next year but organizers have announced dates for 2014, acquired a private island, planned a “summer camp” and switched ships.
First the basics – ShipRocked 2014 is scheduled for January 26-30. This time around the annual Bahamas cruise will take place onboard the Norwegian Pearl instead of the MSC Poesia.
But you won’t spend the entire length of the cruise sailing the sea. Next year’s ShipRocked will include two days on a private beach on Great Stirrup Cay where you’ll soak up the sun and concerts as well as partake in parasailing, snorkeling, canoeing and other activities.
On the other hand, you may never want to leave the ship. Not when the Poesia has 13 bars and lounges plus a casino, spa, bowling alley, rock climbing, two pools, waterslides, hot tubs and other attractions to, ahem, float your boat.
The company behind ShipRocked – ASK4 Entertainment – has partnered with Whet Travel for the 2014 high seas extravaganza. Totally experienced at making events such as ShipRocked much more than just a boat ride, Whet Travel specializes in planning music and theme cruises.
But music is ShipRocked’s main attraction, including Q&A sessions with bands, artist-hosted activities and live music from bow to stern. Although ShipRocked has yet to reveal its 2014 lineup, past cruises have hosted Godsmack, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, Fuel, Vince Neil, Helmet, P.O.D. and others.
However, you don’t have to wait until January for a taste of ShipRocked. The cruise has a summer camp planned for June 14-16 at the aptly named “Club Getaway” in Kent, Conn. Located in the Berkshire Mountains, ShipRocked Summer Camp will host 10 Years, Pop Evil and Andy Wood’s North Star Band along with performances from the cruise’s own 10 years of ocean-going adventures.
