Colin Meloy Books Fall Solo Tour

05:01 PM Tuesday 7/30/13 |   |

The Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy is embarking on his first solo tour in five years in November with a setlist featuring “songs you’re dying to witness live” as well as “songs you’d sort of forgotten about and to which you’re not exactly opposed to listening.”

Along with the tour, Meloy is releasing a new EP of covers. His previous Colin Meloy Sings albums have featured tunes from Morrissey, Shirley Collins and Sam Cooke.

An announcement from the band asks its mailing list recipients, “What will it be this time? Who knows? Does he even know? Possibly not.”

Before the headline tour begins Meloy will play Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Aug. 18 in Lyons, Colo., and Ottawa Folk Festival in Ottawa, Ontario, Sept. 5.

Here’s where you can find him in November:

Nov. 1 – New York, N.Y., Town Hall
Nov. 2 – Glenside, Pa., Keswick Theatre
Nov. 4 – Somerville, Mass., Somerville Theatre
Nov. 5 – Washington, D.C., Lincoln Theatre
Nov. 6 – Durham, N.C., Carolina Theatre
Nov. 8 – Atlanta, Ga., Variety Playhouse
Nov. 9 – Louisville, Ky., Headliners Music Hall
Nov. 11 – Chicago, Ill., Park West
Nov. 12 – Madison, Wis., Majestic Theatre
Nov. 13 – Minneapolis, Minn., The Theatre At The Woman’s Club

Expect more dates to come. The Decemberists say the tour “will eventually lead him to the Pacific coast, but we’re not quite ready to announce that part yet.”

A limited amount of presale tickets will be available July 31 at 10 a.m. local time at ColinMeloy.com.
