Of course, what would an event with the word “taste” in the title be if it didn’t include food?  The event that began in 1980 as a one-day fest with a $150,000 budget that attracted 250,000 attendees has since grown to the world’s largest food festival that showcases the diversity of dining choices that the Windy City has to offer.

You can expect yummy dishes from more than three dozen Chicago restaurants at the  four-star feastival of food & fun.” More than one million people attended the 2013 Taste, which debuted several new areas in the festival such as the air-conditioned, sit-down dining experience known as the “Celebrity Chef du Jour.” The three-course meals at the Celebrity Chef du Jour were prepared by chefs such as Graham Elliot and Stephanie Izard.

Here’s the lineup at the Petrillo Music Shell:

July 9: Awolnation, Saints Of Valory
July 10: Janelle Monáe, Gary Clark Jr.
July 11: Nickel Creek, Emmylou Harris, Parker Millsap
July 12: Jeff Tweedy
July 13: Aloe Blacc, The Wailers

Although admission is free, tickets for the seating area at the Petrillo Music Shell will be available during an onsale that begins May 22.

Additional attractions include the Family Village, Dominick’s Cooking Corner, and a stage with local and regional music.
