After three years partying in Dominican Republic, Panic en la Playa is headed back to Mexico “where all the magic started.” The ultimate experience for Widespread Panic fans is scheduled Feb. 2-6.
The debut Panic en la Playa took place in Puerto Morelos. This time around, the winter getaway plays the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo.
Attendees will be treated to four full shows from Widespread Panic, with a setting that can’t be beat, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Plus, you’ll get two late night performances from The New Mastersounds, as well as Playa Allstars featuring George Porter, Jr., Ivan Neville, Eric Krasno, Col. Bruce Hampton, Randall Bramblett, Nikki Glaspie and Jennifer Hartswick. Patterson Hood, Todd Snider and Jerry Joseph will each put on solo sunset shows.

All-inclusive packages include a four-night stay at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya, a mini fridge stocked daily, in-room liquor dispenser, unlimited offerings at several a la carte restaurants and 24-hour room service. For fans who work up an appetite after rocking out, the buffet will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and post-show munchies.
The activities schedule hasn’t been revealed yet, but organizers promise that whatever happens, there is never a dull moment at the Playa. Past fun times have included the annual Sauce Contest with John “JoJo” Hermann, poker with Widespread Panic members and bingo by the pool.
Fans wanting to squeeze in some excursions during the event will be happy to learn that Panic en la Playa is located a short drive from attractions including the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, ancient cenotes, snorkeling sites and the village of Playa Del Carmen.
Official theme nights for the fifth edition of Panic en la Playa will be announced soon. In the meantime, the presale for returning guests begins July 8. The general onsale starts July 9 at 2 p.m. EDT. Visit PanicEnLaPlaya.com for more information.
