It’s time for fans to start making plans for their annual pilgrimage to Newport, R.I., for the Newport Jazz Festival. The event announced its lineup today, topped by Chick Corea, Gregory Porter, and Angélique Kidjo.

Newport Jazz, which began in 1954 as the first outdoor music festival in the U.S., returns to Fort Adams State Park July 29-31. In addition to a full day of music July 29, the festival kicks things off with an evening concert at the Tennis Hall of Fame, featuring Gregory Porter and the Chick Corea Trilogy. Porter is joined on stage by Chip Crawford, Emanuel Harrold and Jahmal Nichols. Corea is accompanied by Christian McBride and Brian Blade.

“The Newport Jazz Festival is quite different from other jazz festivals around the world,” festival producer George Wein said. “With multiple stages of music each day, we are able to present a panoply of the world of jazz. Having the opportunity to utilize the creativity of more than 50 different artists means that we can present every style of jazz.”
The lineup also boasts Robert Glasper, Charles Lloyd, Kamasi Washington, Django Festival All Stars, Galatic, John Scofield/Joe Lovano, Jose James, Steve Coleman, Darcy James Argue, Mary Halvorson, Monty Alexander, Kneebody, Kenny Barron, The Bad Plus, Christian Scott and many more.

Flex tickets are on sale now, priced at $59 for adults, $20 for students and $15 for children. Tickets for the July 29 concert at the Tennis Hall of Fame are also available. General admission three-day passes, two-day passes and single-day tickets, as well reserved seats and tickets to the Jazz Club at Fort Adams, go on sale Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. EST.
