Hey, Hey, They’re Still The Monkees

04:01 PM Friday 2/5/16 | |

Monkeemania returns to North America beginning in May when Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork hit the road for The Monkees 50th anniversary tour.

Ah, memories of The Monkees – the jokes, the Monkeemobile, the TV show and hit songs like “I’m Not Your Steppin’ Stone,” “I’m A Believer” and “Pleasant Valley Sunday.”

But don’t think this is a total nostalgia trip.  The Monkees first new album in nearly 20 years, Good Times!, arrives June 10.  Featuring  Dolenz, Tork and Michael Nesmith, the LP showcases songs written specifically for the group by many of today’s top songwriters, including Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, and XTC’s Andy Partridge.  The album also contains songs by Harry Nilsson and Neil Diamond as well as Tork and Nesmith.  Monkees member Davy Jones, who passed away in 2012, appears in a vintage vocal.

Get ready, America!  Here they come, “walking down the street” to play at a venue near you.
