Festival Noize: Rockfest, Lockn', Free Press, Kaaboo, Taste of Chaos

One of Canada’s largest rock music festivals returns to Western Quebec this summer, as the Amnesia Rockfest prepares for its 11th installment at the Montebello Marina.

The festival has more than 125 bands on the docket, many of which were some of the biggest acts in the ‘90s, including Blink-182Ice CubeKornLimp Bizkit and Jane’s Addiction. Bands that broke later like Rise Against and The Black Dahlia Murder are also included, along with old-school favorites like Twisted Sister and Misfits.

The lineup has an impressive selection of punk and metal favorites, inclusing Cannibal CorpseSepulturaCorrosion of ConformityStreetlight ManifestoLagwagonNo Use For A NameMillencolinAgainst Me! and Guttermouth. The event will also feature a number of Quebec bands and French rockers Ludwig Von 88 and Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs.

The festival is scheduled to take place from June 23-26, and allows for camping throughout the affair. Weekend passes are on sale now for $120, and tickets for a VIP campground are also available. Ticketing information can be found at AmnesiaRockfest.com.

A number of bands are set to perform at the Lockn' Festival in Arrington, Va. August 25-28. The festival has established a reputation as one of the premier locations for one-of performances and collaborations, and this year includes members of The String Cheese Incident performing in EOTO, and members of Widespread PanicPrimus, and Phil Lesh and Friends performing with other acts.

The four-day camping festival is to be held at the Oak Ridge Farm and will be headlined by PhishWeen and My Morning Jacket, all performing over multiple nights.

ColleGrove, Father John Misty, and Zola Jesus have been added to the lineup for the Free Press Summer Festival in Houston, Texas June 4-5.

The festival features Deadmau5The NationalModest Mouse and The Chainsmokers as headliners, stretching the genres covered to include EDM, Rock, Pop, and Rap.

This is the 8th edition of the festival and promises art displays and access to the finest food trucks Houston has to offer.

Tickets are on sale now at fpsf.com. General Admission tickets will set you back $157.50, but other more exclusive tickets, such as the “Silk Pajama Tickets”, are selling for up to $999.

Super-festival Kaaboo has announced a number of punchline heavyweights for its unique blend of music, food, art, dancing and comedy. Performers at this year’s event include Dana CarveyDavid CrossDarrell HammondJeff RossJaneane Garofalo and the cast of HBO’s show “Silicon Valley”.

The event is will be held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, Calif., Sept. 15-18. Headliners for the music portion include Jack JohnsonThe Avett Brothers and Goo Goo Dolls.

Rachel Bloom, who had previously been promised for Kaaboo-goers, has had to cancel her participation in the event, due to obligations to attend the Emmy Awards on the same weekend.

The multi-faceted festival comes with a price tag. The cheapest tickets start at $250 and the most comprehensive experience is available for $2,500. General onsales are ongoing at KaabooDelMar.com.

San Bernardino, Calif. will invite indie bands from all over to the Rockstar Energy Drink Taste of Chaos Festival for the second year in a row this summer. The lineup this year includes Dashboard ConfessionalTaking Back SundaySenses Fail, and Quicksand.

The festival, to be held July 16, will be at the San Manuel Amphitheatre Festival Grounds, and hopes to replicate last year’s attendance of over 13,000.

After beginning in 2005, Taste of Chaos was put on hiatus from 2010 to 2015, making its return to Southern California last year. The festival is the conclusion of the Taste of Chaos tour, which will bring a smaller lineup to other cities starting June 3 in Chicago, Ill.

On-site camping spots for the festival will be available for purchase, but promoters have warned that they are very limited. General and VIP tickets will be available April 1 and Early Bird tickets start at $25. More information is available here.
