Literally one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Go see them if they come anywhere near your town. They won't be playing small venues for long. My pick for artist of the year. People c'mon is the song of the year. They are even better in concert than their studio album

Powerful lyrics, strong stage presence, mesmerizing rhythm section. So this is what it must've felt like to see a young Bob Dylan. Having never heard them before, I quickly noted my three favorite songs in about an hour set, People, Turn Around; People, C'mon; Trashcan. It's rare you fall in love with a band on first listen. People Turn Around was a story-telling folk dream with plenty of grit and emotion during the chorus. People, C'mon and Trashcan had me dancing in a crowd of shoegazers. The bassist and drums very amped up the energy level. A couple times the rhythm section vamped out a tribal beat and band members from previous bands came out to beat on a couple bass drums flipped on their side. I think it was indie folk rock. Very inviting performance, friendly band. I only caught the last song by the opening act The Dawes, which was really great. Other Lives was next. It felt like a laid back stoned early David Bowie. Lots of sweeping melodies and strong chorus. Also slightly reminded me of Arcade Fire with a brunette girl playing string instrument (cello in this case) and enthralling petite (she lost her voice) backup vox. The lead singer played this great effect during the song End of the Year that sounded like screaming dolphins. Compression/Sustain, Digital Delay, Volume Pedal. It was alien feedback, very tasteful and absorbent. Indie folk rock? I thought they had to be Delta Spirit b/c how could it get better.
