Although the show started about 5 minutes late, the show itself was great. Our seats were a ways back at The Grand and we didn't find the people in the Grand to be the most friendly with regard to greeting people at the show and assisting them to their seats but upon our inquiring as to where we should go, they did help us. We learned that evening also that this particular venue does not ever sell the first 8 rows but rather holds them back for high rollers, friends of the casino, etc. so if anyone ever chooses to go there, be aware. Randy and band kicked it off with "Before You Kill Us All" as he had done previously at the March concerts. I don't recall the exact order of all of the songs but prior to doing "Deeper Than the holler" he told the story of how some time ago a gentleman asked him what a holler was and he responded by inquiring "what do you think it means" and the person said "to beckon at high volume?" Randy said it could mean that but then explained what "holler" in the song meant. Randy also told only two other jokes through the night – the elevator joke and one he had told, which really wasn't a joke, at the church in March at Willow Creek. It was just about a group of relatives talking about another saying how ugly he was and the grandmother who would not say a bad thing about anyone made the comment "Well, poor thing, he can't help it because he's ugly, but if he'd only stay home." Now if you're all thinking "okay, and what's the point?" I can only say, if you attend a show and figure it out, let me know (smile). I guess I've missed it along the way myself somewhere somehow. Prior to the elevator joke, he also told about the first time he visited the tunica area, how they met an elderly couple who was going to stay the night at the hotel Randy and them had just stayed at – since he also told this same joke or whatever in Dallas, I won't give it all away but suffice it to say, it was kind of another one of those things I wasn't too sure about upon completion (lol). Randy was dressed in black jeans, black jacket and a red shirt. He sang most of the songs we are all familiar with - the three included from "Rise and Shine" this time were "Three Wooden Crosses," "I'm Ready" and "Pray for the Fish." One of the high points of the entire show was that on "Three Wooden Crosses" Randy received not only one, but two, standing ovations. The crowd loved it and following the first standing ovation, Randy and band performed the final ending of the song again. Randy closed the show with "Forever and Ever, Amen" and "Diggin' Up Bones" prior to returning for an encore of "Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart" and "America Will Always Stand." Before doing those two songs, though, he had promised someone he would do the chorus of "1982" but almost forgot the words and following it commented "nearly lost my mind" in that song pretty much fit what almost happened there. Security was really tight and they had the entire stage roped off. One guard said they were letting no one up to the stage but at the end several did make their way up there. Not long after we were standing there for a minute or so, another security woman came through telling everyone to go back to their seats but Janet and I remained. I am not sure if others did as well but when Randy observed what was happening, he did come over, even while singing "America Will Always Stand" and shook my hand. I can't say for sure if he continued to shake hands or sign autographs as he initially started to do until they started pushing people back but I can say they weren't very accommodating or friendly in my opinion. But all in all, we had a good time and Randy was wonderful.

This concert was a free inspirational concert in the Dallas area sponsored by Reunion church. Following performances by the Reunion Live Band and another artistSteven Delopoulos , Randy took the stage and started with "I'm Ready," "Shallow Water," and "Rise and Shine" from his currently released "Rise and Shine" CD. Other songs throughout the evening included "Amazing Grace," "Baptism," "Feet on the Rock," from his first gospel release of 2000, "Inspirational Journey" and "When Mama Prayed," "Everywhere We Go," " "Raise Him Up," "Pray for the Fish," "Keep Your Lure in the Water," and "Three Wooden Crosses," " all, of course, from "Rise and Shine." Midway through the program he also performed "He Walked on Water," and shared three jokes throughout the evening to include: one about two brothers being blamed for everything and thinking that God was missing and they were blaming them, the joke about the baptism at a small lake where a drunk came across the way and ended up in the water next to the preacher and the elevator joke, one I am assuming then he is telling at the show. Just prior to "Three Wooden Crosses," he shared his testimony with the pastor of Reunion Church as they talked about the usual, Randy's younger youth, the trouble he was in, how he came to wanting to record gospel music and lastly, how he came to know Jesus. During the testimony, Randy expressed his feelings that he knew where he was in life now and that he was comforted by the fact he knew he would be going to Heaven and not hell and the preacher interjected the comment "your now going to Heaven after raising hell" and Randy laughed and said "you're sure gloating on that fact about my younger youth," and of course the pastor said he was just so impressed that Randy had turned his life around in that manner but assured the audience that you didn't have to be a Randy Travis to get to know Jesus but also said that Randy was a good role model and if Rnady could do it, so could others.. According to my friend, who so graciously tprovided me transportation to and from the show said Randy was dressed in what appeared to be a black jacket, beige shirt and black jeans. Jo Ann was not able to stay for the show due to other plans but came in near the end and did take some final photos for me. A gentleman next to me had taken a few also at the beginning so hopefully they will all turn out. Randy then ended the show with "Three Wooden Crosses," followed by "Forever and Ever, Amen," and "America Will Always Stand." The arena on the floor level was quite full with some seating in the back but unfortunately, they appeared not to have need for the mezanine level. The crowd there, however, was appreciative and I do believe all enjoyed. You can rest assured, as a dedicated Randy Travis fan, I loved it.
