The Pogues were absolutely brilliant. Of hundreds of live music sets I've seen, this was definitely one of the best. Small but devoted crowd at a great amphitheatre venue. There was no opening band the they played for about 1 and 1/2 hours. Every member of the band was truly into. Shane looked/sounded great. He's still a screamer and there's no one like him. I highly, highly recommend seeing them this tour. If you are already a fan, you will not be disappointed. If you aren't a fan yet, you will be after you see this show. And, as a side note, I was very impressed by their merchandise selection, particularly their canvas grocery bags. I love green bands!!

The Pogues show at the tabernacle in Atlanta was possibly the best concert I have ever seen. The band played an amazing set. From the first note of Streams of Whiskey to the last note of Fiesta the band was tight, engaging and obviously having as much fun as their audience. McGowan was in fine form and seemingly at the top of his game growling over all the expected tunes from their catalogue.

It’s a rare thing these days when the bridge between audience and artist seems to collapse and the evening becomes void of rock star ego, and simply about people having fun playing and enjoying great music. I waited patiently for over 20 years to see them and my expectations were set very high. They easily surpassed anything I expected.

The only downside of the evening was a young girl barely 16 who’s accusations of pushing and invading her space escalated from the strange to the absurd. Evidently she was unaware of the hundreds of people singing along and dancing behind the third row. This culminated with a arm flailing temper tantrum leaving myself and those near me wearing most of the 10 dollar drink I waited 20 minuets to get… perhaps the tabernacle should reconsider the all ages policy for some shows.

If you have the opportunity, don’t miss this concert. The Pogues are an incredible live band.
