Wow! What a way to open the tour. Greensboro show was excellent, the setlist fantastic and the Dead Heads in full swing. The band was very tight, started off with Music Never Stopped - Jack Straw . Was nice to see that the Greensboro location allowed the fans to hang out all day and party unrestricted. Even after the show it wasn't a rush to kick everyone out. Phil's bass was lit with blue LEDs up the neck - very different. Did anyone notice Mickey Hart kick the other guys offstage as drums began? He looked at Bobby and gave him the "knife across the throat thing," Warren too..but Warren kept jamming and they actually sent a guy out to him on the stage while he was playing to shoo him off....I must say that was pretty uncool of Mickey....

I traveled from NYC to see this one. The snow was heavy during arrival, but the pepsi arena, our beloved renamed Knickerbocker, was toasty. What I remember about this show was the transition to Sailor, which was very smooth and showed they were thinking. Also a great instrumental stella blue that was very heartfelt. Otherwise a good show and worth the mini-road trip.

If you were there, you would understand. But if you were not, im here to explain it to you. I am from upstate NY so i know the weather. But to a dead head thats never been to upstate, the snow and rain was crazy. Maybe thats why that was the opening tune in the show. After checking into a hotel for $160 bucks a night, we split it 4 ways with my buddies. Then it was up to the room for some pregame. The hotel was packed with heads everywhere. There was no ice in the ice machine, bathrooms were clogged. Typical. After the pregame we walked over to the show (About 4 blocks but it felt like 20 with all the cold rain and snow) we passed all the diehards who just pregamed in the lot. Now into the show! Started with cold rain and snow then to estimated &rt; crazy fingers &rt; good lovin &rt; the eleven &rt; little red rooster &rt; casey jones. just when i thought i had seen it all, robert hunter came out during the break and jamed out to some legendary dead tunes. The second set was as crazy as the first coming out hot with scarlet &rt; fire then uncle johns &rt; lost sailor and a haven of unbelievable tunes. Then came the encore. Did i mention that the show was on a saturday? One more saturday night! Then we headed back the the hotel hooting and hollering. went up to the room for a few hienekens and some green stuff, then hit the hay. Woke up hit I-90 west headed back home to utica. What a night!
