One of the biggest shows to come to Anchorage this year successfully filled the Atwood to capacity. Musiq Soulchild brought fans from all over Alaska, some driving hours, to be entertained by the Platinum star. BD Productions and KFAT radio were the main producers of the show. "A night of soul, night of love," according to the emcee from KFAT radio. When Atlantic Records Platinum recording artist Musiq Soulchild opened up, the crowd immediately rose to their feet. Soulchild told the crowd he would be performing songs from both old and new albums. Not a problem, many in the audience could sing along effortlessly to songs from the new album, Luvanmusiq. He opened with an older song of his, "Previouscats." The first song to really get the crowd on their feet and swaying was "Halfcrazy." A few songs into his performance, the artist teased the audience for a few minutes with some jazzy vocals. "Sometimes I get emotional," he said. At one point Soulchild asked the crowd to get on their feet to dance with him and was pleased to see that everyone actually did leave their seats. "You all ready to dance?" he said. The audience was happy to mimic Soulchild's two step. Towards the end of the set, Soulchild sang an old favorite - "Just Friends." He let the crowd sing most of the first verse. Soulchild ended the show by shaking hands with the front row and people came running from all over to get a touch. Soulchild showed his generosity as an artist and announced he was signing autographs in the lobby after the show. Many from the audience showed up to get a signature.
