I have seen Vince Gill play live over 100 times. I have been to countless soundchecks. Vince has been known to soundcheck for as long as 2 1/2 hours. After his short soundcheck before this gig I thought there wasn't anyway he was going to pull this one off. He was sick & stuggled through his pre gig warmup. Being the true professional that he is he rested drank some tea & by the time the lights went on & the crowd got going he was ready for showtime. With stong support on vocals from guitarist Jeff White & drummer Billy Thomas not many people in the crowd knew that anything was wrong with Vince until he joked about it to the Casino crowd. Even more amazing than his ability to sing under such condtions was his blistering guitar work. Vince called up special guest Al Anderson from NRBQ to throw some more guitar licks into his show. Vince mesmerized the crowd with such hits as I Still Believe in You & Whenver You Come Around. Gill proved me wrong as for most of the night I forgot that he couldn't even talk that well shortly before the show. Vince was backed by session studs John Hobbs on keyboards, Willie Weeks on bass & Jay Dee Maness on steel guitar.
