TMV headlined the 2nd stage on the 2nd night at Outside Lands Music Festival in Golden Gate Park. For 90+ minutes, the band was an unrelentless prog-rock powerhouse, playing several tracks from Octahedron, as well as a few crowd favorites and, even, a Tremulant rarity ("Eunuch Provocateur"). But you could tell the group/crowd was not satisfied with the limiting set schedule. This became brutally apparent when Cedric tore down and smashed in the 2nd stage's band sign before they finished opening up with "Goliath". This TMV tour, unfortunately, does not feature Adrian on woodwinds, which dampens the band's jazz diversity but also leaves more room for solo features from Ikey (on keys) and Marcel (on synth and percussion). Omar melted faces as usual on "Roulette Dares" and Pridgen left the crowd breathless during the band's finale of "Wax". Personally, Cedric's voice was the most consistent I had ever heard during a live performance. His harmonies were perfect during "Halo of Nembutals" and "The Widow". Cedric also seems to have dropped the vocal effects and remixing used during the Bedlam tour, making his words clearer and more precise. Overall, the band is in top form. But this tour seems to be more about ambient composition, rather then mindblowing jam outs. But dont worry, you'll still have to pick your jaw off the floor after theyre done.

Not only do these guys make good albums but they are a great jam band. They played for about 3 hours (yeah 3 hours!) and it was great. The live versions of the songs vary greatly from the studio versions which I thought was cool. I wasn't sure what to expect from Cedric but his voice sounded great the entire time. Omar was amazing as usual. Good show.
