Date of Concert: 10/19/2008 | Location: Halifax, NS

Tonights show in Halifax NS was amazing! Lenny's band was in top form, despite the fact it was the first night after a long break from the road. That's right Lenny said tonight that Halifax was the first show in a long time, but it sure didn't seem like it. His band was so hot tonight I thought the place was gonna melt. He had a horn section that would make funk bands like "Earth, Wind & Fire" jealous. If you had ever seen the video for "Always On the Run" you know what band he's touring with. It was in your face R&R that felt like it was staight from the 70's. For two hours it was loud & funky with many intimate moments. A couple of surpise tunes that one might not expect to hear were "It Ain't Over till it's Over", "Fields of Joy" & "Dancin til Dawn" (off of the latest CD). One of the coolest moments and example of how much control he has over his band, was when he called one of his horn players from behind the stadge for a trupet solo during "Be". It was so intense, it would make the most wasted fan stop to listen. Not only did they sound good but the show looked good too. No large Heavy Metal Led Zep type lights. He had what looked like strings of tennis balls that changed color the were lowered till they were just above the bands heads during the melow tunes & raised as high as the sky during the loud ones. It reminded me of what a rave might have to light up the place. He played many instuments during the night. Showing off his skills on guitar, then organ, then guitar, congas, then guitar & then drums. I swear he has a different guitar for each song. During "I'll Be Waiting" he sat down at what looked like a clear glass piano. With a spotlight on him most of the time he sang the soulful ballad like Prince, Hendrix, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & Stevie Wonder all rolled up into one. It had an extended ending that got the audience singing "I'm the one who really loves you baby" over and over untill a very climatic ending with his lead guitarist (Craig Ross) that made it hard to believe it could get better. Oh, but it did. He cracked a few jokes about "American Woman" being a protest song & how half of the US dosen't even get it when he sings it to them. He made a very inspiring speech about his first album being written almost 20 years ago, his disapointment on how the worlds problems haven't got any better & asking everyone to start a small "Love Revolution" of their own. Then lauched in to "Let Love Rule". During the song he jumped in to the crowd, walked to the back & made a lap around the arena. Hugging every girl he could, high fiveing guys & getting people into a frenzy. Then he makes his way back to our side, hugs the girl in front of me & leaves me hanging.rrrrr It was very cool to see him up close and I know I wasn't the only one left hanging, but still but "Where's the love Lenny???? and where's my high five man???".Lol He ended the night with "Are You Gonna Go My Way" with the whole place on their feet & jumping. Lenny said...."Everyone get up & jump!" and eveyone did. It was awesome! Then just when it seemed like it was over he gets behind the drums & treats us to a drum solo/jam with his guitar players. It was amazing. I had a great seat on the side of the stage, five rows from the piano. There were a lot of camera's so maybe if you check youtube you might see me in my cowboy hat rocking out..:) If he's coming to your town, go see him. Just ask anyone who was there & I'm sure they would say "You won't regret it!".
