John Prine is one of America's best storytellers. Most people I talk to who think they are "Musically Enlightened" know nothing know his work, despite the huge volume of work available websites, via retail and via bootleg trading lists and all the live shows I have attended being "Standing Room Only".

He IS "One Of Us" having worked at jobs as the rest of us do. He understands poetic justice, using cliche to help turn a phrase, and the varying states of the "Human Condition" and has no trouble nailing it whether it is humorous (Never Gonna Let Him/Her Go) or serious (Sam Stone) He also understands the struggle SInger/Songwriters live through in order to get their work heard. Todd Snider worked for/with him for a LONG time. The only thing John ever "Made Him Do" in all that time, was to wear shoes when playing a show with him. I was in Birmingham, Alabama at the first show after is surgery and he, Iris DeMint and Todd Snider were all absolutely stellar. From there, all three have done nothing but get better.

Hey, Starless....you are clueless.....find me one soul that does not get worse all the time in this rotten day and age. That is what makes john once and for all....one of us....and not one of you
