Okay, so first of all Tears for Fears were GREAT. They were in their element that night. The mix was good, the musicianship tight. And I don't know what that guy below is talking about; these guys played like 80% of their hits, so, you know.... obviously not a huge fan, that one. As a TFF fan I was impressed by the energy, song choice, and sound, for sure. I will agree, however, that Michael Wainwright stunk up the place. Bad, bad choice of opening acts. Blech. That said, I will never ever attend another show at the Oregon Zoo. I cannot say enough about the terrible planning on the Zoo's part. Some people brought HUGE blankets which took up what limited space there was, and then belly-ached liked children when someone sat beside them, thereby "crowding their space." Also the wait and prices to get a a drink were laughable for what you got. SO = Great show, guys! Please don't play the Oregon Zoo again!

im sorry you and your family had a horrible time. might i say i do believe you are wrong when you sat there to say that they were doing NEW material. i am going to 7 of the 8 shows and the ONLY newish material i can think of is 7 of sundays sung by curt, and i do believe only 3 songs from elahe cd and that cd has been out for i wanna say 5 yrs. i came from california, went to seattle, portland, saratoga, santa rosa, costa mesa will be going to the san diego and phoenix show becos i love the choice of material. michael wainwright, i dont believe is slimey lolol ( im sorry i thought that was funny) that kinda sucks that people said what they said but hey give everyone a chance to perform musically. i must say every band or singer that has opened for tff i thought have been great!! anyhow im sorry you had a horrible time and hopes you will give them another try, for i thought they did basically like a best of hits concert.. if they had played anything new i would totally would of loved to hear. forever a fan,

The Portland Zoo is a great venue for a show. And having seen T.F.F. twice before I was excited to have this be my kids first introduction as concert goers. I thought it would be a good fit, after all we own every album save the newest one(Everybody Loves a Happy Ending), and my oldest boy-whose birthday it was on the day of the show loves them. After a five hour drive and $160 in hotel costs to say we were disappointed is an understatement. While T.F.F. sounded good their choice of material was strange to say the least. In the first 45 minutes I only heard three songs I knew. While I can understand a band wanting to promote new material surely they must know that a sold out show in a large-ish venue is there to hear more than just new stuff and unreleased material. And the opening act was absolutely about the worst act I've ever heard. In between bland, uninspired lyrics sung in a voice that would scare a cat in heat and actually made listeners cringe he pled to get laid and hawked his wares. I actually heard people say "Thank God." when Michael Wainwright left the stage. He came off as slimey, self centered, and uncompromisingly untalented. We left a good half hour early and that was unfortunately the highlight of my sons concert going experience.
Tears for Fears' Curt Smith lends his voice to a September 9th birthday party for Greenpeace and Platinum Weird's Dave Stewart at Hollywood's SIR Recording Studios.
