The Patsy Cline Theatre, formerly the John Handley Auditorium built in 1923, will be dedicated on October 29, 2009, at a special concert featuring American music icon Willie Nelson, who wrote the song “Crazy” that launched both of their careers. “The naming of this landmark venue in her honor and having her friend Willie Nelson perform at the dedication highlights her legacy as a pioneer in American music and status as Winchester’s favorite daughter,” stated event promoter Christian P. Schweiger. Patsy Cline became the first women to headline her own show in Las Vegas, preformed at Carnegie Hall, received a Grammy Lifetime achievement award, and membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2002, CMT named her #1 on its list of the 40 Greatest Women of Country Music.
