i'm sort of in agreeance with everyone, yet not 100%. Yes, the band does bring all their equipment, and they help design where/how they want the speakers. if you were in the pavilion, that's your problem. you're completely on the side, if you were in the house or lawn you could hear. also, the weather makes it difficult sometimes because when it's rainy or windy the sound quality isn't great. i work here and i know that there is someone that walks around with a laptop monitoring the sound and they are in communication with the sound board making adjustments as needed. yes, every venue definitely is different, but that's not the only thing that alters the quality of the sound. i have worked concerts where they have had rounded speakers pointing in every direction, once again that is up to the artist/managers to decide. i know there have been plenty of concerts where sound wasn't the best, once again this is due to speakers, or weather, or other issues and one may be how the theater is built, but that is not the only issue.

mrpotato: No, it's not the band. Yes, a lot of bands bring their own sound system in, but that doesn't mean it will sound good. The way the venue was built has everything to do with the sound. Alpine Valley has a wood shell, thus the sound is a lot better. They changed the sound system back when it was the Tweeter Center due to countless complaints but it still isn't where it should be. The Dave Matthews Band has one of the best sound systems around right now yet they still sound like crap at this place unless your in sections 102-103-104.

Someday people will realize that THE BANDS produce the sound and put up THEIR own speakers. They control the sound board, not the venue. The restroom lines are long, the beer isnt cheap. but if it involves the sound , blame the band.

I saw Aerosmith there in 2002. They put on a kick ass performance as always, but the sound system was terrible. The speakers point straight out from the stage so if you're off to the side(in the pavilion like we were) you can't tell what song there playing unless you're already familiar with it. They need to flare the speakers out like at alpine valley and other venues so everybody can get decent sound. I vowed to never go there again until they make vast improvements.
