German promoter Deutsche Entertainment AG (DEAG) is off to a good start into the third quarter of 2019, thanks in part to its recent acquisitions.
DEAG’s open air events Sion sous les étoiles (July 11-14 in Switzerland), Belladrum (Aug. 1-3 in the U.K.) and Nature One (Aug. 2-4 in Germany) all sold out, which amounted to 110,000 one-day and multi-day tickets sold.
Sion sous les étoiles is a traditional and locally established event in the Swiss canton of Valais. DEAG acquired a majority stake in promoting company Live Music Production LMP S.A. and Live Music Entertainment S.A. in June.
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in Scotland has been selling out since 2009 with a capacity of 17,000. DEAG acquired 100 percent of Belladrum in June last year through its U.K. subsidiary Kilimanjaro Live.
Nature One is one of the biggest rave events in Germany and one of the biggest electronic music events in Europe. Since June this year, DEAG owns a 50.1% interest in its promoting company I-Motion GmbH, the operating unit of LiveStyle Inc.
Prof. Peter Schwenkow, CEO of DEAG, commented: “We are supplementing our organic growth by expanding our own successful entertainment formats with very selective M&A activities.
“All three open air events are great proof of how successful we are: Established for many years, highly profitable and once again completely sold out, we are not only contributing to strengthening our profitability, but also providing growth impetus in our ticketing business. Via MyTicket we meanwhile sell tickets for all our events as well as third-party content. For Nature One 2020, we are already conducting advance sales again!”
