Groove Armada today announced their last dates with live band for April 2022, celebrating 25 years of touring.
From their humble beginnings as London club night promoters, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay aka Groove Armada have built a proper dance music legacy. Since releasing their debut album Northern Star in 1998, the duo garnered three Grammy nominations, two for Best Dance Recording (“Superstylin” in 2003, and “Easy” in 2004), one for Best Dance/Electronic Album (Black Light) in 2011.

Who knows whether the British dance veterans are ever going to return to the States?

The band initially announced its last gig in 2011, at Brixton Academy, the end to 15 years on the road. Seven years later, Cato, Findlay and some of their live crew met for a reunion in the pub, which has been their pre-tour gathering place since 1997.

The decision was made to bring the live band out of retirement for a mini-UK run. “Fast forward a few months. The Warehouse Project Manchester, the walls are dripping with sweat, the energy is fresh, it’s going off. A lot of new faces in the crowd. It was one of the most electric live show of them all,” Groove Armada recalled in a statement.
Feeding off this energy, the band stayed on the road a while longer, culminating in aBoomtown gig. Then came COVID, which pushed some of the last gigs from this run all the way into the summer of 2021. “It didn’t feel like the way to go out,” the band stated, adding, “It’s been 25 years, a long time, and something that deserves a proper ending.”
On this last seven-day send off, Groove Armada will revisit venues they’ve been performing at since the mid-1990s.
Tickets for Groove Armada’s last full live UK tour go on sale Oct. 29, promoter of the shows is SJM. Support acts have yet to be announced.
