CTS Eventim, which handles ticketing for the recently announced Rammstein 2019 stadium tour, is celebrating a new sales record: 800,000 tickets for a single tour shortly after the start of the onsale, Nov. 8.
The demand for tickets exceeded the available quota many times over, a press release from CTS Eventim reads. All ten German concerts were sold out within a few hours. In the first hour, more than one million users permanently accessed CTS Eventim’s portals, triggering peak rates of 80,000 system requests per second.
According to German news reports, CTS Eventim’s site buckled under the onrush several times. Tickets are still available for some of the other European shows outside of Germany.
Members of Rammstein’s fanclub LIFAD had priority access to tickets from Nov. 5. When the tour was announced last week, so many people applied for a LIFAD membership that the band had to temporarily impose a freeze on new applications.
Three new dates were added to the tour on Nov. 8, at Olympic Stadium Munich, Germany (June 9), and Paris La Defense Arena, France (June 29), and Ernst-Happel-Stadion Vienna, Austria (Aug. 23), the closing show of the tour.
Between May and August next year, Rammstein will visit 24 European cities in 17 countries, playing 30 shows in total. The entire list of dates can be found below. The tour is promoted by the band’s long-time promoter MCT, headed by Scumeck Sabottka.
Tickets have already appeared on Viagogo, and CTS Eventim has warned fans against buying them. Tickets for the Rammstein stadium tour are personalized, which means ticket buyers have to enter their names on the tickets. Resale is only officially sanctioned through Eventim’s Fansale offering. In addition, country-specific quantity limitations apply for each buyer.
Alexander Ruoff, COO of CTS Eventim, commented: “When a band sells such an outstanding amount of tickets in such a short time, it shows both their exceptional artistic status and the unbroken attraction of live music. We thank Rammstein, Scumeck Sabottka, and MCT for their trust in our work.”
