Midnight Cowboys: Cameron Duddy, Mark Wystrach and Jess Carson of Midland whose first single “Drinkin’ Problem’ was nominated for a Grammy.

Grammy-nominated, neo-traditional country band Midland joined Pollstar Contributing Editor Holly Gleason in conversation via Zoom on Thursday for the latest edition of Pollstar Live! Digital Session.

Jess Carson, Cam Duddy and Mark Wystrach chatted with Gleason about the Luck Springs, Texas-based trio’s songwriting influences, using racy lyrics to “convey the human experience,” stories from the road, the significance of North Hollywood’s historic Palomino Club and more.

The Palomino Club hosted the likes of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson before closing its doors in 1995.

Last fall, with Pollstar as a co-presenter, Midland took the stage to re-open the legendary honky tonk. For Record Store Day, this Saturday, the band is releasing One Night Only: Live from the Palomino on vinyl.
Gleason wrote Pollstar‘s October 2019 cover story “Midland: 21st Century Honky Tonk All-Night Band”  about the live factor in taking this band from the clubs to headlining the Houston Rodeo.
