Alessia Cara Announces ‘Pains of Growing’ Tour, Shares New Song

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Alessia Cara announced U.S. headlining tour dates on Monday. The 18-date “The Pains of Growing” tour beings Oct. 21 at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre and will feature special guest Ryland James.

In addition, Cara, who won Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys, released a new track “Ready,” the first song released off of her forthcoming EP This Summer, out Sept. 6 on Def Jam Recordings. “Ready” had its world premiere this morning during Alessia’s exclusive interview on Z100’s “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.”

“Caught the writing bug out of the blue and made an EP,” Cara wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be releasing a new track every couple of weeks. The first song is out now.”

“Ready” follows “Out of Love,” the hit single from Cara’s critically acclaimed second album, The Pains of Growing, released last November. Alessia is currently touring with Shawn Mendes on his self-titled tour, where she has provided support at arenas from Los Angeles’ Staples Center to Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Cara’s last headlining tour, in 2016, included stops at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, where she sold 1,412 tickets and grossed $53,661, and Toronto’s Massey Hall, where she sold 2,226 tickets and grossed $80,668, according to Pollstar Boxoffice data. This year, she’ll return to venues from that tour, including Orpheum Theatre, where she sold 2,085 tickets and grossed $74,394, and San Francisco’s The Masonic, where she sold 1,567 tickets and grossed $49,437.

In her young career, the 23-year-old Cara has already notched four Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Here,” her 2015 breakout single that peaked at No. 5, and “1-800-273-8255,” her collboration with Logic and Khalid that peaked at No. 3.
