Andy Gibb Leaves Ricoh Arena

The closer working relationship between Wasps Rugby Club and the operators of its Ricoh Arena stadium in Coventry, England, means that some positions are made redundant, including managing director Andy Gibb.

Gibb, a former Wasps player himself, joined the arena in March 2015, coming from events company GES. 

“Andy has played a pivotal role in the success of the move and the development of the ACL business and we wish him all the very best for the next stage of his career,” Nick Eastwood, chief of Wasps Group, told the Coventry Telegraph.

It’s not the only change in personnel caused by the restructuring. In May, Wasps chief executive David Armstrong stepped down, being replaced by Eastwood. Wasps bought stadium operator ACL in October 2014 for £5.54 million, thereby taking control of Ricoh Arena as well as taking on and later paying off ACL’s debt to Coventry City Council, the report continues.

The deal has been contested in court by Sisu, the owners of Coventry City football club. The judicial review is still ongoing. The 40,000-capacity Ricoh Arena in recent years has hosted Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, and Ricoh Arena.
