After teasing several artists yesterday, Lollapalooza announced the complete lineup Wednesday for its flagship Chicago event, set to take place from August 1 to 4.

Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots and The Strokes top the festival’s bill. Tame Impala, Flume, The Chainsmokers and J Balvin occupy a second line – though one with font sized identically to the first line.

Other noteworthy acts include Kacey Musgraves, Lil Wayne, Janelle Monáe, Meek Mill, Hozier, Rüfüs Du Sol, Gary Clark Jr., Tenacious D, 21 Savage, Death Cab For Cutie, H.E.R., Maggie Rogers, Alesso, Louis the Child, Slash, Fitz and the Tantrums and Mitski.

Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell will also perform new solo material as Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra.

This year’s Lollapalooza lineup bears similarities to those of several other major 2019 festivals. For one, in booking Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala, Lollapalooza will feature all three of Coachella’s headliners. Twenty One Pilots and Tame Impala will both headline Boston Calling in May; The Strokes will headline Governors Ball in June and Ohana in September.

Other top-tier bookings are more unique. Lollapalooza represents The Chainsmokers only announced 2019 U.S. festival play, before the chart-topping EDM duo embarks on a headlining arena tour this fall. And Flume’s appearance marks the DJ’s only announced 2019 date in North America; his two other planned 2019 gigs will both take place in Japan.

Lollapalooza famously debuted as a traveling festival in the ’90s. Since establishing its annual Chicago event in 2005, Lollapalooza has become one of the world’s most enduring festivals. In 2016, the flagship Chicago event expanded to four days.

And while the festival no longer travels, it has expanded well beyond the Windy City this decade, launching affiliated festivals in France, Germany, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. In 2019, Lollapalooza will launch a Swedish edition.

In 2018, Charles Attal, the founder of Lollapalooza promoter C3 Presents, discussed the brand’s global expansion with Pollstar. “We grow organically, we don’t ever force feed anything, anywhere,” he said. “The growth of Lolla has all been organic growth, in finding great partners and great sites in different cities around the world.”

Four-day Lollapalooza passes are on sale now; single-day tickets will be available at a later time. Find Lollapalooza’s complete lineup below.
