Avril Lavigne will play Canada for the first time in 10 years in May. The “Bite Me Canada Tour 2022” will see the singer trekking through each province of her home country, starting at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, on May 3 before wrapping up at Save-On Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, on May 25.
“I’m so excited to come home and rock out with you Canada! I can’t wait to see you in person this Spring!” Lavigne said in a statement.
2022 also marks the 20th anniversary of the pop punk star’s debut studio album, Let Go.
Lavigne recently signed to Travis Barker’s record label, DTA Records, where she released her newest single, “Bite Me.” A new album is expected to be released via the label in 2022.
She’s described the song as “an anthem about knowing your worth, what you deserve, and not giving someone a second chance who doesn’t deserve you.”
Following a recent performance on “The Tonight Show” with Barker (see the video below), Lavigne will appear on the “Ellen Degeneres Show” today.
The 14-market Canada includes stops at Montreal’s Place Bell, Ottawa’s TD Place Arena, Edmonton’s Rogers Place, Winnipeg’s Canada Life Centre and two nights at Calgary’s Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Mod Sun and grandson will be joining Lavigne as the tour’s special guests. An artist presale and AMEX Front of the Line presale are ongoing now through Dec. 2 at 10 p.m. Live Nation and Facebook presales begin Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. through Dec. 2 at 10 p.m. The public onsale for most dates starts Dec. 3 at 12 p.m., with $1 going toward the Avril Lavigne Foundation supporting people with serious illness or disabilities. All times are local.
Lavigne’s last Canadian tour back in October 2011 saw her playing more than a dozen gigs throughout the provinces. Highlights from the tour include a sold out show at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena that sold 6,383 tickets and grossed $297,091 and a gig at Montreal’s Bell Centre that sold 3,809 tickets and grossed $179,168, according to reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice. Recent reports include a Sept. 18, 2019 show, at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre that sold 5,557 tickets and grossed $276,679.
