Supporting its first studio album since 1995’s King, Belly will launch its North American tour in June.

Belly’s lineup features former Throwing Muses / Breeders member Tanya Donelly along with Chris Gorman, Gail Greenwood and Tom Gorman. The band’s debut album, Star, included the single “Feed The Tree” and received Grammy noms for best alternative music album while the band was nominated for best new artist.

The band’s third studio effort, Dove, was produced by Tom Gorman alongside friend of the band Paul Q. Kolderie.  The album arrives May 4, but Belly has already issued the L.P.’s first single, “Shiny One.”

“I have a lot of affection for ‘Shiny One,’ Donelly said in a statement. “It was the first completely collaborative song we’ve ever done – Gayle wrote the riff and the chorus, Tom and I wrote the bridge, Chris’ parts shaped the direction and vibe.  When I hear it, I hear all four of us equally.”

Belly played a few club and theatre dates during the last two years.  Box office numbers submitted to Pollstar showed an average nightly ticket-count of just over 700 per show for an average gross of more than $20,000.  The total gross of all shows submitted was $141,784.

Belly’s 2018 roadwork begins with a May 26 stop at the East Coast’s Boston Calling festival followed by a journey across the U.K.  The U.S. tour begins with two nights at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom Aug. 8-9.  Some shows are already on sale.  Check out Pollstar’s Belly page for the complete routing.
