Blink-182’s 1Year Delay

Blink-182 has postponed all dates on its U.K. and European summer tour until 2012. The trek is being pushed back to allow the band more time to work on its upcoming album.

The Blink boys broke the news to fans with a statement posted on their official website. The guys noted that they were making the announcement with “heavy hearts” and apologized to fans that had purchased tickets for the tour.

“When we booked the tour last year, we were confident that we would have the new album out before the summer. Turns out we were mistaken as the album is taking longer than we thought and won’t be out till later this year.  We hoped we would have some new songs to play rather than [doing] another ‘greatest hits tour’ which you all saw last summer.  As much as we know our fans would be cool with that, we feel that we owe you guys something new when you spend your money to come see us. Frankly, it’s what needs to continue for us to remain vital. … Thanks for all of the continued support and understanding.”

The U.K. and European tour was scheduled to begin June 18 with a set at Hurricane Festival in Sheessel, Germany. Dates were planned through a two-night stand July 18-19 at The O2 – London.

The U.K. dates have been rescheduled for June 7 through June 19 in addition to July 10-12.

Original tickets for the 2011 U.K. shows will be valid for the rescheduled dates.

Three new 2012 U.K. and Ireland shows have been added including June 12 in Dublin, Ireland; June 13 in Belfast, United Kingdom; and June 20 in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Tickets for these shows go on sale Thursday, April 21.

The German shows have been rescheduled for June 25-26. The Berlin gig has changed venues and will now take place at Spandau Zitadelle June 30. Original tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates. Although Blink-182 can’t make it to the 2011 Prague City Festival, the band will be at the 2012 edition on June 29. Tickets to the 2011 Prague City Festival are still valid, but if fans are only interested in seeing Blink, they will be able to exchange their tickets for next year’s event.

The 2011 Italian shows have been rescheduled for July 3-4. Tickets for the 2011 shows will not be valid. Fans must request a reimbursement and purchase tickets for the new 2012 shows.

Blink-182 is working on the follow-up to the band’s self-titled 2003 album.
