Boxoffice Insider: Aventura Reunites For First Tour In a Decade

moved 12,330 tickets and grossed $1.85 million at the Dallas stop of its “Inmortal Tour” at American Airlines Center in Dallas Feb. 13.

For Latin music group Aventura, 2020 has begun with a return to the concert stage for an arena tour through American cities, the first for the New York-bred bachata band in a decade. It follows a year that saw activity for the group that officially went on hiatus in 2011, beginning with the arrival of new music last April – a new single titled “Inmortal” released as the lead single on member Romeo Santos’ Utopia album that bowed on the same day.

Stirring the fire for the upcoming tour, all four original members of the group also performed together on stage at Santos’ headlining concert at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019, drawing thousands of New York-area hometown fans. It marked their first performance together since an early 2016 multiple-show engagement at United Palace Theatre in Manhattan’s Washington Heights – then marketed as perhaps their final appearance together.

In early February the band headed west to launch the North American trek, kicking off the “Inmortal” tour with a multiple-show stint at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Feb. 5. With shows on four consecutive nights, the Los Angeles-area venue saw a total of 52,162 tickets moved during the run for a massive combined gross of $7.1 million based on ticket prices ranging from $49.50 to $509.50.

Heading to Texas the week after the opener, Aventura played a Feb. 13 show at American Airlines Center in Dallas followed with one at Houston’s Toyota Center the next evening on Valentine’s Day. The Dallas arena logged 12,330 sold seats for its concert that grossed $1.8 million. In Houston, the attendance count was a bit lower but the gross a bit higher with just over $2 million earned from 11,688 sold seats. It was the first of two concerts planned in Houston. The second performance came the following weekend on the 22nd, but box-office data has not yet been reported from the second show. Both Texas venues offered ticket price ranges similar to the L.A. arena with a high ticket topping out at $494.50 in Dallas and $500 in Houston.

On the strength of these first six shows on the tour, Aventura makes an entrance on this week’s LIVE75 chart that ranks current touring artists based on ticket sales averages during the past month-long period. With the number of sold tickets averaging 12,696 to earn the group a top 10 ranking, the tour has already topped $11 million in sales from these six early shows.

Upcoming dates for the “Inmortal” tour include multiple arena performances booked in Chicago, Boston, Washington and Miami followed by a four-show run in mid-March at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Afterward, single shows are planned in western markets as well as in Florida, Texas and North Carolina through April.
A glance at Pollstar’s boxoffice archives show a total of 38 performances reported for Aventura’s final tour before hiatus that launched in November 2009 and continued through 2010, playing primarily arenas in U.S. and Mexican markets. Overall grosses from those 38 shows hit $24 million with 343,803 tickets sold, an average of $631,890 earned from 9,047 sold seats per concert.
