The U.S. born, U.K. raised artist mesmerized everyone in the room with her incredible voice

The 40th BRIT Awards ceremony took place yesterday, Feb. 18, at London’s O2 Arena.
The ceremony, hosted for a third year by comedian Jack Whitehall, saw nine awards being handed out, as well as nine live performances by Mabel, Billie Eilish, Dave, Celeste, Stormzy and Lewis Capaldi, all BRIT Award winners, as well as Lizzo and Rod Stewart, who brought out Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood and Kenny Jones, to close the show.
Lewis Capaldi took home two trophies. The singer/songwriter began 2019 with a bang, when his first headline tour through the U.K. sold out in under a minute.
But Capaldi also been doing great in the North America and Canada, where he’s been playing headline shows and performing at festivals last year. The Oct. 12 show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, for instance, sold out all 1,200 tickets, grossing $30,000, according to Pollstar box office.

Toasting to the second award he won that night.

Capaldi also sold out 2,229 tickets for Montreal’s Corona Theatre, Oct. 7, grossing $48,082, and 1,552 tickets at the Thalia Hall in Chicago, IL, Oct. 4, a show that grossed $35,696.
Foals, winners in the Best Group category, also look back on some successful U.S. gigs in 2019, like selling out the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA, on March 22, when the band sold all 2,679 available tickets and grossed $103,343, or the Riviera Theatre in Chicago, IL, where the band sold 2,540 tickets for a gross of $73,660.
Stormzy, who won the Male Solo award, will embark on a full-fledged U.S. headline tour this May.
Best New Male, Dave, just got his first taste of the States, as well. Pollstar box office shows sold out shows at the 422-capacity Rickshaw Shop in San Francisco, CA on Nov. 22, 2019 (gross: $6,440), as well as at the 450-cap Union Stage in Washington, DC on Nov. 17, 2019 ($7,450).

The rapper, producer and songwriter from London won the Best New Male Artist award.

The winners in the international categories, Billie Eilish and Tyler The Creator, are both from the U.S., where they’ve been selling out arenas for some time now.
Eilish announced her “Where Do We Go” word tour in Oct. 2019, which sold 500,000 tickets in the first hour. She’ll be playing European and U.K. arenas for the first time in July, including Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Manchester Arena and the O2, London.
Tyler The Creator will mostly be playing festivals in Europe, including the 20th edition of Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain, but also a couple of headline shows, one in Paris at the Zénith, one in Amsterdam, Netherlands, at  AFAS Live.
