Bullhead City: Wacken Open Air Unveils Alternative Event Series

In light of this year’s festival cancellation, organizers came up with an alternative event concept, dubbed Bullhead City.

A series of one-day events will make sure that the village of Wacken in Germany doesn’t have to live through a second year without any heavy metal music.
From Sept. 16-18, Wacken village will turn into Bullhead City, to host some of the artists you’d also expect at the main Wacken Open Air event across several stages.
Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Powerwolf, Doro, Saltatio Mortis, Nasty, Gaahls Wyrd, Endseeker, Slope and Burning Witches have been confirmed.
The capacity of Bullhead City will be limited and coordinated with the authorities nearer to the September dates.

Germany may be the country in Europe, where the reopening of live remains most uncertain. There’s no concrete timeline for a possible lifting of restrictions, and rules differ from state to state. Wacken Open Air takes place in Germany’s northern-most federal state of Schleswig-Holstein.

The hygiene concept of Bullhead City will also be adjusted with respect to the developments and the requirements at time.
In addition to one-day tickets, three-day tickets will be available with a limited amount of camping and overnight stays available. The presale for Bullhead City is scheduled for the end of June/beginning of July.

This support allows us to plan with respect to the safety of all persons involved and living in the region.”
