Enrique Bunbury launched his singing career in 1986 as a member of legendary Spanish rock band Héroes del Silencio and after the band split in 1996 he went out solo as Bunbury. Now, he’s celebrating a 35-year long career with a 16-date U.S. tour that kicks off May 3 at Rosemont Theatre in Chicago.

The outing – fittingly called “35 Anos” includes stops in Brooklyn, Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, Los Angeles, San Jose and more before wrapping up in Anaheim, Calif., at House of Blues on June 6th.

Tickets for the tour, produced by Live Nation, go on sale starting Friday Sept. 24 at 10 .m. local time via Ticketmaster.  Citi is the official presale credit card of the “35 Anos” tour. Citi cardmembers have presale acces beginning Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. local time through Citi Entertainment.

Bunbury has been a popular draw, particularly in Mexico but in the U.S. as well, with the explosion of Latin music’s popularity.

Prior to 2020, Bunbury averaged 7,144 tickets sold and a gross of $283,910. Those figures include many shows in smaller markets in Mexico but when he appears in primary markets and major venues, he’s likely to blow those out, too.

For example, his last live appearances three shows at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico between Oct 14-22, 2019  sold 24,560 tickets and grossed $1,174,858. His last U.S. appearance reported to Pollstar was a sold-out May 4, 2018 show at The Plaza Theatre in El Paso, Texas, where he moved 1,799 tickets for $142,051 About a week before that gig, he sold 4,099 ticket at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, grossing $280,286.

With two albums released during the pandemic and subsequent closing down of concerts and a livestreamed tease that sold out a 15,008 ticket allotment Jan. 31, fans can expect a fresh live take from Bunbury — including some new additions to his hard rock en Espanol sound.

On December 11, 2020, just seven months after the release of Posible, Bunbury released his 11th studio album, Curso de Levitación Intensivo, for which, in addition to working with Los Santos Inocentes, he also used experimental jazz musicians and broached Afrobeat and jazz patterns in his new music.

Bunbury says he is “leaving a contemporary stage, going to a new place. There are things in Curso de Levitación Intensivo that point that way.”
