Dead & Company Announce Weekly Archival Streaming Series

Dead & Company launch a free weekly archival streaming series Saturday.

Dead & Company became the latest artist to announce a weekly archival streaming series with nugs.net on Friday.

Dubbed “One More Saturday Night” after the rollicking Grateful Dead tune, the Dead-affiliated group – which features founding Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, as well as John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti – will stream past concerts for free every Saturday night via its Facebook page.

The band will direct viewers to consider making a donation to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The series begins March 28 at 8 p.m. ET with a broadcast of a Dead & Company show at Chicago’s Wrigley Field from June 15, 2019. The concert was the second of a two-night stand at the famed Windy City ballpark that sold 72,851 tickets and grossed $7.06 million, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports. (Spoiler alert: Dead & Company kicked the show off with a rare, beastly “Terrapin Station” opener.)

Dead & Company join other bands to have launched weekly archival streaming series in conjunction with nugs.net as physical concerts have largely been put on hold during the coronavirus crisis. Other bands include Phish (“Dinner and a Movie,” Tuesdays), Widespread Panic (“Never Miss A Sunday Show,” Sundays) and The String Cheese Incident (“Friday Night Cheese,” Fridays). Weekly programming is rounded out by Metallica, Disco Biscuits and Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Dead & Company currently has a summer tour on the books that’s scheduled to begin with two nights at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo., July 10-11. The month-long trek is slated to hit venues including Wrigley Field (July 24-25) and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (Aug. 1) before wrapping with two nights at Boston’s Fenway Park, Aug. 7-8.

The band was among the announced headliners for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which was postponed earlier this month from its previously planned April 23 to May 3 dates.

In January, Dead & Company hosted the third annual and most lucrative installment of its “Playing In The Sand” Mexican destination event, which grossed $18.7 million.
