Disco Donnie Presents Pledges $1 Million Worth Of Tickets To Benefit Veterans

Longtime electronic music promoter Disco Donnie Presents has pledged to donate $1 million worth of tickets to its 2022 festivals and club events, with the donations benefiting nonprofit organizations Vet Tix and 1st Tix, supporting U.S. military and first responders. 

These services provide free event tickets to first responders, currently serving military, veterans, and gold-star families to sporting events, concerts, performing arts, and family activities.
The announcement comes as DDP just released the date and lineup for its Ubbi Dubbi festival, which returns to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, April 23-24 featuring Alison Wonderland, Black Tiger Sex machine, Diplo, Excision, Tiesto, Zeds Dead and many others. 

Disco Donnie Presents also produces Sunset Music Festival in Florida, the Halloween-themed Freaky Deaky, as well as over 1,000 club shows around the U.S.  
The donation is dedicated in memory of PFC Jason Hill Estopinal, Disco Donnie’s younger cousin, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010 during his service in Operation Enduring Freedom.
“Our first responders and veterans are the ones who keep us safe and they’ve had a rough year. We wanted to show them some love, honor their work, and spark a little joy, by welcoming our heroes to our best festivals and club shows. We invite other promoters from all types of music to join us in this effort,” Disco Donnie said in a statement. 
Since 2008, Vet Tix says it hasprovided over 10 million free event tickets to more than 1.6 million members, and in 2018 launched Vet Tix, which provides the same benefit to the country’s current and retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs.

The $1,000,000 worth of tickets donation follows up on a $150,000 donation of 2021 Freaky Deaky Texas tickets, which just took place this past Halloween. Freaky Deaky has also made donations  including $10,000 to the Houston Food Bank and $10,000 to the Texas Association of First Responders. DDP also donated $25,000 to Americares for Hurricane Ida relief. According to the statement, DDP has donated over $500,000 to local charities where the festivals are operated. 
Disco Donnie Presents put on what may have been the very first large festival since COVID, with Ubbi Dubbi taking place April 24-25 in Texas with top EDM talent including Illenium, Kaskade, Destructo, Joyryde and others.

“I couldn’t sleep at night, there was lots of crying – and I’m not a crier – I had to work through all the different emotions, questioning was I doing the right thing?”  James “Disco Donnie” Estopinal, Jr., told Pollstar at the time. “Was I putting people’s lives in jeopardy? Was I putting my team or their future in jeopardy? I did say it was the hardest thing we’ve ever done, but in the end it’ll probably be the most important thing I ever did.” 

A survey conducted after the event showed the event did not appear to result in a spike of COVID cases in the area, with attendees reporting COVID positives in line with the rest of the population at the time.
