Ed Sheeran Breaks U2 Ticket Sales Record In Finland, Inaugurates New Concert Site

Ed Sheeran’s July 23-24 concerts at Malmi Airport in the Finnish capital of Helsinki sold 108,000 tickets in total, topping U2’s record of 106,360 tickets sold for two shows at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium in 2010.
Fullsteam Agency, the promoter of Ed Sheeran’s Finland dates, stated that “all 60,000 tickets to the first show sold out in 20 minutes, and another show was added to meet the huge demand. With the attendance of the two concerts combined, the shows break the record of the biggest concert event to date in Finland.”
Sheeran attracted more visitors than the biggest Finnish Festival Ruisrock does, which counts 105,000 visitors over three days.
The Ed Sheeran shows also marked the first large-scale events held at Malmi Airport, proving the venue’s suitability for major public events, according to Fullsteam Agency, which is part of German promoter giant FKP Scorpio.
Helsinki’s deputy mayor for urban environment Anni Sinnemäki praised the company for the execution of the concerts: “The event was extraordinarily well planned and executed and from the City of Helsinki point of view the collaboration was seamless. We warmly welcome other productions to Malmi Airport in the future.”
Fullsteam Agency is living up to its name in 2019, and is now preparing for Rammstein, who will bring their massive show production to Finland, Aug. 9-10, for two 32,000-capacity shows at Ratina Stadium in Tampere.
