Insomniac has announced the 2020 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas has been postponed, to May 21-23, and tickets for the new dates – which will mark the event’s 25th anniversary – go on sale Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. PST.
All tickets, camping reservations and shuttle passes for 2020 will be honored at the 2021 dates. No information about the lineup was included in the announcement.
“I’m not feeling down about this situation and I hope our fans aren’t either. Moving the show allows us even more time to add onto all of the incredible things we had planned for this year, and I could not be more excited for what we have in store for next May,” Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac Founder and CEO said in a statement. “I know our celebration of 25 years of EDC will be an unforgettable one, and I’m so grateful to have this experience to look forward to.”
Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella was an honoree for Pollstar’s Impact 50 list, and he said that he has learned the importance of diversifying one’s business this year.
“I’ve always had things like fashion and media on my mind, but live events have been at the center and take up so much time that I haven’t been able to give the other areas of our business as much attention as I would’ve liked,” Rotella told Pollstar. “The pandemic has given me the opportunity to focus more on these other areas, all of which tie into one another, and it’s now become a priority to make these other areas of our business strong enough to hold up on their own.”
One of the major electronic music events in North America, EDC was originally set to take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in May and first announced postponement to October. The move is the latest signal that large-scale live events may not happen in 2020, and Irving Azoff recently told Pollstar the soonest he could foresee live events returning is summer 2021, around the time EDC has been announced for.
