The entire live entertainment world has come to a stand-still. Many are doubting the curfews and event limitations are going to be lifted in time to allow for a smooth organization of the upcoming open air season.
Does it even make sense to publish lineup updates in these times of uncertainty? The most recent statement co-signed by more than 60 European festivals suggests it does.
Roskilde Lineup Complete

Roskilde, one of the initiators of aforementioned festival statement, recently completed its 2020 lineup with the additions of HAIM, Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, Charli XCX, The Roots, DaBaby, Jimmy Eat World, City and Colour, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Africa Express, Bicep.
They join an already impressive list featuring Chance The Rapper, The Cure, Bob Dylan, Cardi B, Robyn, Christine and the Queens,  Janelle Monáe, Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Vampire Weekend and Rosalía.
Roskilde 2020 is scheduled to take place June 26–July 4 in Roskilde, Denmark.

Thom Yorke Goes APE

Thom Yorke will join Massive Attack on the bill of All Points East, May 24, for what promoter AEG describes as “a unique acoustic solo performance with piano.”
So far, APE is still scheduled to take place, May 22-31. The most recent Coronavirus update on the festival’s website reads: “Over the past week we have been seeking further clarification on the government statements surrounding the emergency services and major UK events. We have also been speaking with all other relevant authorities about the safe operation of the event. As soon as we have the full information, we will pass that onto you.
The safety, health and wellbeing of everyone is our sole priority and we ask that you follow the relevant advice and take care of yourself and your loved ones. Thank you for your patience.
Aside from headliners Massive Attack, the bill for that day also features newly added Alfa Mist and Jacques Greene, as well as previously announced Nils Frahm, Young Fathers, Neneh Cherry, Sevdaliza, Fatoumata Diawara, TNGHT, GAIKA, Skinny Pelembe, Hotel Lux and Mad Professor.
All Points East won Best New Event at this year’s Arthur Awards in London. It takes place at Victoria Park, London, across two weekends separated by a week of free community entertainment.

Duran Duran At BST

Meanwhile, AEG’s other big London park event, British Summer Time Hyde Park, has unveiled its final headliner, Duran Duran.
The British icons are celebrating their 40th band anniversary, and will perform their first London show in fiver years at BST, July 12.
Duran Duran is joined by Gwen Stefani as well as Nile Rodgers & CHIC no that day’s bill, with more artists to be announced. The group’s singer Simon Le Bon commented: “I look at film of The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park back in ’69 and think of all the great acts who’ve performed there since. It really is an honor to add the name Duran Duran to that roster, and to play our music at one of the world’s greatest inner city locations.”
The other BST headliners in 2020 are Post Malone (July 2), Little Mix (July 4), Kendrick Lamar (July 5), Pearl Jam (July 10) and Taylor Swift (July 11).
Like in the case of APE, there will be four days of free admission to Hyde Park in-between weekends.
As BST is an AEG event, too, the Covid-19 update on the festival’s website is the same as for APE.

Latitude Adds Comedy
Latitude has added comedy, spoken word and music to what promoter Festival Republic (Live Nation) calls “Latitude’s biggest ever line up!”

Festival Republic, which also promotes other major festivals including Download, Wireless, Lollapalooza Berlin, Electric Picnic, Reading, Leeds and more, hasn’t changed its Coronavirus update since March 5: “At this time, all shows and events are going ahead as planned. “We are closely monitoring official guidance from the World Health Organisation, Public Health England, UK Government, local public health authorities and are working with event promoters and organisers as information evolves.”

Music takes place on three stages. Newly revealed artists include The Waterboys, Richard Hawley, The Wonder Stuff, The Staves, Jade Bird, Peat & Diesel, The Nightingales, Katherine Priddy, Sinead O’Brien, Dana Gavanski and more.

Slam Dunk Festival Postponed

UK indie and alternative festival Slam Dunk saw itself forced to push back its 2020 edition to later in the year.
Slam Dunk takes place in the north and south of England across two days. The northern edition at Temple Newsam in Leeds, was pushed from May 23 to Sept. 5, the southern edition at Hatfield Park from May 24 to Sept. 6.
Promoters are currently trying to get all of the originally announced lineup confirmed for the new dates. Headliners Don Broco and Sum 41 already confirmed the new dates.
Other recently announced artists include Billy Talent, NOFX, Pennywise, While She Sleeps, Young Guns, and more. “With so many artists playing, countless suppliers and contractors, and an army of staff/crew there is a huge amount to co-ordinate to make this reschedule happen.”
The only way for the festival to get cancelled at this stage, would be if the UK government banned large outdoor events for a period of time which included the dates of the festival.
“We will, of course, be monitoring the situation, taking advice from all relevant agencies, and will comment further if anything changes. Please rest assured if the event is cancelled your ticket will be refunded,” a statement on Slam Dunk’s Facebook page reads.
