European Festivals: 85% Hold On To Roskilde Ticket, Primavera Sound 2020 Canceled

Most fans held on to their 2020 tickets, which will grant them access to the 2021 edition
Organizers of Roskilde, Denmark’s most popular music festival, said 85% of ticket buyers held on to their tickets and use them when the event returns next year. 
Denmark was one of the first countries in Europe to ban the people from gathering outdoors in large crowds all summer. Consequently, Roskilde had to call off its 50th edition in 2020.
Fans had the opportunity to refund their tickets until Friday, May 8, and according to the festival’s organizers said, less than 15% chose to do so.
The refunded tickets will be made available for those on the waiting list for a Roskilde 2021 ticket.

The gig took place on June 1, 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.

Meanwhile in Spain, Primavera Sound had to cancel its 20th anniversary edition, pushing it to June 2-6, 2021.

Back in March, promoters had postponed the festival from June to August, still hoping the country would lift its Corona-restrictions in time. However, now that it has become clear that there won’t be an open-air event season in Europe in 2020, those hopes have been shattered.
Tickets remain valid for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2021, and will include “special benefits” for all those who decide to keep them. Details on this will follow.
Alternatively, ticket holders will be able to request a refund from June 3, the date on which this year’s edition was originally meant to start. 
On the same day, the first artists for the festival’s 2021 bill will be announced.
Each year, Primavera Sound is accompanied by Primavera Pro, a music conference for the professionals working in this business. Primavera Pro will hold a virtual edition this year, July 21-24. More details tba.
