The Fillmore Minneapolis continues Live Nation’s growth in both its Clubs and Theatres division as well as in the Twin Cities market, with the 1,850-capacity music hall next to Target Field baseball stadium to open in February 2020. The venue will be booked by talent buyer Tamsen Preston, with a musical lineup to be announced in October, with as many as 175 concerts and events expected per year.

“The Fillmore Minneapolis will be a redefined concert experience for the Twin Cities, and we’re thrilled to unveil this unmatched venue right next to Target Field near downtown in the North Loop,” says Ron Bension, president of Live Nation’s Clubs and Theaters division. “At every Fillmore we welcome our guests to make a night of it, not just with our incredible lineup of world-class performers, but also with delicious food, inventive cocktails and craft beers.”
The 36,000-square-foot, 1,850-person capacity Fillmore Minneapolis adds to Live Nation’s presence in the region, which includes shows at active venues including Target Field, U.S. Bank Stadium, Xcel Energy Center, Target Center, The Armory, The Hennepin Theaters and others.
The Fillmore Minneapolis music hall, VIP lounge and private box seats will feature Fillmore nostalgia from the original San Francisco venue, traditional signature Fillmore red velvet drapes, a wood dance floor, murals, chandeliers and other local Minneapolis features to ensure a night out at the Fillmore will always be special.

On the mezzanine level will be the luxurious BG’s Lounge, named for legendary promoter Bill Graham, showcasing framed Fillmore posters featuring Minnesota artists and bands who have played at The Fillmore music venues.
The venue would appear to be in direct competition with the city’s 1,500-capacity First Avenue and First Avenue Productions-booked Palace Theatre in St. Paul, which has a capacity of 2,500. The city in April greenlighted a new First Avenue amphitheatre in north Minneapolis, according to the local Star Tribune.
Live Nation Clubs and Theatres just announced the promotion of senior promoter Kelly Kapp to a dual-role executive position in both the Clubs and Theatres as well as US Concerts divisions, enabling her to create compelling tour packages to develop artists and stay with them no matter which size venues they play.
Kapp, who books up to 800 shows per year and who has roots in the hard rock and metal realms, says Live Nation’s growing portfolios of venues in the clubs and theatre space puts fans and bands first.
“That’s why Ron (Bension) and the team over here have gone above and beyond to make sure the club and theatre experience is a great one,” Kapp says. “I was a straight-edge hardcore kid going to VFW halls and skateparks, and now it’s really nice to see Live Nation understands people are putting out their hard-earned dollars, and a lot of people still like to go to a club on a Friday night. It’s really come a long way to where people are excited and look forward to the venue sometimes as much as the band.”
