‘Hamilton’ Headed To Puerto Rico

Lin-Manuel Miranda will fulfill a dream to bring his award-winning, Broadway smash hit, “Hamilton,” to Puerto Rico in 2019.

Miranda, whose parents were born in Puerto Rico, will again star in the production that will take place at University of Puerto Rico’s Teatro UPR Jan. 8-27, which sustained damage from Hurricane Maria, according to Playbill.

“Bringing [‘Hamilton’] to Puerto Rico is a dream that I’ve had since we first opened at The Public Theater in 2015,” Miranda told Playbill. “When I last visited the island, a few weeks before Hurricane Maria, I had made a commitment to not only bring the show to Puerto Rico, but also return again to the title role.”

Miranda is also partnering with the Hispanic Foundation with the intent to donate $2.5 million in grants to aid in Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria.
