Hard Summer to return to NOS Events Center and expands to three days

HARD Summer’s 2022 dates have been announced, and Insomniac has revealed that the festival will be expanding into three days for the first time.

This year’s festival will be taking place July 29–31 and promises to bring a plethora of talented acts within the genres of electronic dance music and hip-hop. 2022 will also see HARD Summer returning to San Bernardino, Calif.’s NOS Event Center for the second time. HARD Summer will host five outdoor stages, free water stations, shade structures, a one-acre lagoon, and more.

Prior to moving to NOS Event Center, HARD Summer took place at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. in 2018 and 2019. In 2017, the festival took place at the Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, Calif. 2017’s event also grossed $6.7 million and sold 78,450 tickets, according to reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice. The year before, HARD’s event at the Auto Club Speedway had hosted around 146,000 attendees.

Last year’s lineup saw the likes of Lil Durk, DJ Snake, RL Grime and Baauer, Kayzon, Dillon Francis, REZZ, 2 Chainz, Skream and more.

In 2019, Pollstar spoke with Meagan DesChenes, the director of the festival. DesChenes became the ace of HARD in 2018 following the departure of festival founder Gary Richards in 2017.

Pre-sale passes for this year’s event will go on sale from Jan. 28–31, with 3-day passes starting at $199 for $9.95 down. Information pertaining to this year’s lineup will be announced in the coming months, with the festival looking to be bigger than ever in 2022. Attendees must be 18+ to enter the festival.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, HARD Summer was able to make its return in 2021 on July 31 and Aug. 1. Fans were encouraged to wear masks throughout the event and provided 200 hand washing and 280 hand sanitizing stations throughout the venue. This year, the event plans to continue complying with San Bernardino’s regulations regarding COVID-19.
