The Australian-founded voice-recording app VoiceByte is getting some big-time exposure in a partnership with iHeartMedia.

VoiceByte essentially records users voices through mobile devices and gets the comments to producers to be quickly broadcast through various programs, creating a more interactive media experience. The company is also working on a patent-pending dashboard to streamline the flow of audio files and data relating to sentiment and location to producers.

Through the deal the media giant takes a part-ownership stake in the app and will implement the technology on two Ryan Seacrest programs, “American Top 40” and “On Air With Ryan Seacrest.”

“We believe your voice is the most powerful instrument in the world and we wanted to give the audience a tool to help them use that instrument to express themselves and literally be a part of the show,” the startup’s CEO and co-founder Michael Fenech said.

VoiceByte CTO Stephen Fenech added: “VoiceByte gives people a chance to emotionally engage with their favorite programs, and have their say in under 20 seconds without having to call an open line, wait on hold or send emails They can interact from anywhere in the world to become part of the conversation on radio and TV shows, podcasts or live events.”

The technology was rolled out at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
