Kane Burton Leaves O2
Rebecca Kane Burton is leaving O2 Arena and taking on the role as managing director of Really Useful Theatre, where she is to help the theater group grow its business.
Kane Burton will oversee the growth of Really Useful Theatre’s concert business, help launch a new ticketing company in 2017 and look into new sponsorship and commercial partnerships.
Really Useful Theatres operates seven commercial theatres in London and is part of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s theatre production and rights licensing company The Really Useful Group.
The company’s new headquarters is to open in August at a new location adjacent to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Kane Burton spent eight years at English Heritage before becoming Alexandra Palace Managing Director and subsequently The VP & General Manager of O2 Arena for the last four and a half years.
She will report to Mark Wordsworth, RUT’s executive chairman, and to its board.
André Ptaszynski will continue as president and head of programming.
Lloyd Webber said he was “absolutely delighted” that Kane Burton was joining his company, and her experience would be “invaluable in enabling my theatres to continue to develop as wonderful venues to enjoy musical theatre, concerts and other forms of live entertainment whilst still recognizing, respecting and protecting their heritage.”
She added that “it has been a wonderful four and a half years at The O2,” to which Tom Miserendino, CEO and president of AEG Europe, responded: “On behalf of AEG Europe, I wish to take this opportunity to thank Rebecca, who has been a valued member of our management team.
“Rebecca can be rightfully proud of the legacy she leaves and the excellent team in place at the venue. We wish her well for the exciting things she has planned next,” Meiserendino said.
