Kristin Somin Named Oriel’s Director of Communications

The Oriel Company, a full-service communications firm launched in December by Carleen Donovan, Jen Appel and Chloë Walsh, is already expanding. Today it named Kristin Somin, formerly an RCA Records publicity manager, its director of communications. Somin will be based out of the company’s New York Office.

While working at RCA, Somin spearheaded national publicity strategy and campaigns for major artists, including Doja Cat, Bryson Tiller, Flo Milli, GoldLink, Lucky Daye, London On Da Track, Young Nudy, Calboy, Martin Garrix and many others. She has been a prominent force in elevating artists across all genres, but notably burgeoning acts in the R&B/Hip-Hop and producer spaces.

Oriel’s roster, in addition to repping Live Nation Urban and United Talent Artists, includes an impressive range of high-profile and critically acclaimed artists, including: Phoebe Bridgers, Robyn, Liz Phair, André “3000” Benjamin, The Roots, Hot Chip, Lenny Kravitz, Michael Stipe, Maroon Five, Phoenix, the Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Old Dominion, Weezer, Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange), Conor Oberst, Kelsea Ballerini, Zoe Kravitz, Juliette Lewis, The Internet and Matthew Morrison and Sabrina Carpnter, among others.

The firm maintains offices in both New York and Los Angeles.

The Oriel Company was formed last December with DPR, Donovan’s former communications agency, at its core and in partnership with Appel and Walsh. The trio formerly worked together at Press Here. Previous to forming TOC, Appel and Walsh worked together at Grandstand P.R.

The firm’s services include media relations, integrated communications, alliance building, entertainment consulting, and international campaigns for talent throughout music, film and television, fashion, art, design, business, and beyond.
