The country’s first drive-in concert took place at the RACE cinema in Madrid, June 17.

Dubbed Utilita Live From The Drive-In, a series of live drive-in events, from concerts to comedy, will take place across 12 venues in the U.K. between July and September.

Confirmed artists include The Streets, Gary Numan, Dizzee Rascal, Ash, Beverley Knight Bjorn Again Brainiac Live, Brand New Heavies, Cream Classical Ibiza, Embrace, Jack Savoretti, Lightning Seeds, Nathan Dawe, Reggae Roast Vs Gentleman’s Dub Club, Russell Watson, Sheku And Isata Kanneh-Mason, Sigala, Skindred, The Snuts, and Tony Hadley. More acts will be announced, according to a Live Nation statement.
As opposed to other drive-in concepts, where the sound is broadcast through the radio into people’s vehicles, Live Nation is building a full concert production for Utilita Live From The Drive-In, including “concert quality sound from a live stages with a full state of the art sound system, lighting rig and high definition LED screens, creating an arena or stadium concert feel in a safe Drive-In setting.”
The company promises visitors “their own private individual viewing zones next to their cars,” from where they’ll be allowed to watch music concerts, theatre performances, comedy shows and events for families.
The concert schedule on livenation.co.uk indicates that each artist will be performing at each of the 12 venues. The full list of drive-in location can be found below.
Performance timings will vary across the day. There will be morning, afternoon, early evening and late evening performances, depending on the artist and productions. Some performances will run twice on the same day.
Tickets go on sale June 22. Each drive-in show will have a capacity of approximately 300 vehicles, which can be occupied with people in line with government regulations – which at the moment recommend that visitors only travel with people from their own household.
