Live Nation GSA hosted a charity concert over the weekend, Dec. 12-13, featuring some of Germany’s biggest acts, who raised money for the crews that form the backbone of this industry.

Rock icon Peter Maffay closed the concert on Sunday, leading a lineup that also featured Adel Tawil, Die Fantastischen Vier, Eskimo Callboy, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Johannes Oerding, Joy Denalane, LEA, Milky Chance, Rea Garvey and The BossHoss.
Across two days, the artist performed on a mixed reality stage, the livestream was broadcast via the channels of German telco giant Telekom.
The concerts have so far raised €813,255 ($985,000), fans are still able to donate. The concerts performed and money raised send an important signal mere days before Germany enters into a second lockdown.
Live Nation Germany boss Andre Lieberberg thanked the artists, who participated without taking a fee and therefore enabled “an extraordinary event in difficult times.”

He said the concerts, which ran under the German hashtag #lauterwerden (“turn up the volume”), met the primary goal of supporting those without whom music would cease to play.

They also demonstrated the socio cultural importance of live music and live experiences in an impressive way. “Just like millions of fans, we, too, cannot wait to experience these moments together again,” Lieberberg commented.
The money raised will be distributed by Live Nation’s Crew Nation initiative. Presenting partner Deutsche Telekom contributed €250,000. Sponsors making the non-ticketed event possible include SEAT, ING, eBay Kleinanzeigen, we care®,  New Yorker and MasterCard.
Donations are still being accepted at crewnation.org. All concerts from the #lauterwerden performances will soon be available for free on Telekom channels MagentaMusik 360 as well as MagentaTV.
